Welcome!

I've been saying that I am going to write a blog for some time now, but instead of blabbing away about the ins and outs of my day I wanted my blog to have a theme. Finally, while strolling down the aisle of the grocery (one of my favorite activities!) I realized that my blog theme had to be food! I've always loved food- who doesn't, but my passion for food, both prepared by me or by someone else has sky rocketed in the last six months and somehow I find myself planning my life around events that all deal with food.

I've been thinking a lot about why my passion and interest in food has changed so much recently and here are my conclusions:

1. I've never been away from my mom's home cooked food for so long and my desire to recreate her deliciousness has never been so present.

2. I recently opened a restaurant. Ok some of you are thinking huh? But it's true- Sapphire Lounge and Night Club in one of the hippest towns in Rhode Island (NOT!) but still a hip place to eat. Now clearly I am not a restaurateur, but I did assist in hiring the manager, chef, waiters and bar tenders, writing the menu, creating fun drinks, selecting the colors for paint and fabric, getting all the health permits and the best part-tasting the final food products. Looking back it was actually pretty awesome and I learned a lot about food not only working on that project, but with all the work I did at RCano Events.

3. I am having an affair with the food network. It's true I LOVE the food network, but I guess it's not really an affair if your boyfriend loves it just as much as you. So other than the main nbc abc etc for some reason the only other English speaking television channel I get is the food network. I mean I've always loved watching it, but now that it's one of the few channels I get it has become an obsession.

4. I have an awesome boyfriend who loves to cook also! And although deciding what we are going to make sometimes turns into a mini argument, cooking has become on our favorite things to do together.

5. After reading the book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver and making my weekly trips to the farmers market I have a new fascination for locally grown food.

6. I now live in a city with so much food culture it is crazy! From hot dog carts to tea at the plaza this city offers a wide and diverse array of food for me to try and doing so (at least the on the cheaper side) has become a hobby of mine.

So my goal for this blog is to document all my food adventures in new york city and beyond. From telling you about my trips to the farmers markets to new recipes I've tried or reviews of places I eat I hope you all enjoy and possibly salivate a little while reading this blog!
